I'll provide a first line and a few characters. You write a short story to share.

Here are the rules:
1) Your story must begin with the provided first line.
2) You must include the provided characters, although you many include others.
3) Story to be under 1000 words.
4) You must include First Line Challenge in the title and the tag.
5) Group content is private to protect your publication rights.
6) Family friendly content, please.

The competition will run weekly. Each sentence will end at noon Saturday on the posted date with three top stories announced on Sunday evening and featured for the next week on the group site.
